Find Craven County Recent Arrests

Craven County recent arrests show up in more places than a single list. The county booking roster is only the start. Someone arrested today may already sit in local custody. Others get released within hours. A few are held in a different jail entirely. One Craven County arrest can also mean a booking, a court case, and a custody status that all point in different directions. To learn who was arrested in Craven County, check the roster, city police records, court files, and custody alerts side by side. Each source answers a different question.

Tracking Craven County Recent Arrests

Start with the Craven County Active Bookings roster. The Detention Center links it as its Housed Inmate Listing. It covers people currently housed at the Craven County Detention Facility. That is its whole scope. Arrests made by the Sheriff, New Bern Police, Havelock Police, Trent Woods Police, a state agency, or a federal partner may never show up. That can happen if the person was released quickly or held in another system.

The county publishes no separate 24-hour feed and no multi-day blotter. Time windows come from the Booking Date column on the active roster. Same-day views capture new bookings. Wider views group everyone still listed. Neither counts as a full history.

ViewWhat it coversMain limitation

The county page displays a live table with a last-update stamp. It relies on booking time, which can differ from the actual arrest time. Updates arrive only "as often as possible." That means no set overnight schedule. No weekend or holiday schedule is promised either. The official Craven County roster is the page to watch.

Craven County recent arrests official active booking roster

The official table shows current custody data straight from the county, not a saved copy of anyone's status.

Important: An arrest is not a conviction. Charges are allegations. Verify current custody with the agency and the outcome with the court.

Who Was Arrested Last Night

Checking on an overnight arrest? Search the roster by Booking Date first. No result yet? Intake takes time, so look again before assuming anything. Then call the Craven County Detention Center at 252-636-6619 or the agency that made the arrest; the Sheriff's business line is 252-636-6620. An empty search never proves no arrest happened.

The county leaves juveniles and federal inmates off the roster by policy. Other explanations for a missing name include release, transfer to another facility, processing at a police department only, or a simple spelling mismatch. A focused VINE Arrest Check covers custody notifications in participating settings, though VINE is not the court file and does not reach every case.

Does leaving the roster mean the charges were dropped?

No. A dropped row usually means the person is no longer in county detention. Release, transfer, bond, and court outcomes are all separate events with their own records.

Search the Craven Jail Roster

The roster is a live GIS table, not a name-search form. Use your browser's Find command and scroll the rows. Match more than a name, since common names and typos make name-only searches risky.

Roster fieldHow to read it
Booking number and ORIIdentifiers useful when asking staff about the same booking
Name and ageIdentity clues, not proof by themselves
Booking dateFacility intake date, which may follow arrest time
Bond totalA value that can change; not a fine or sentence
Statute and descriptionCharges supplied by the booking system; charges only
Bond court dateA scheduled event where present, not a case result

A careful lookup takes three steps:

  1. Open the official roster and note its displayed last-update information.
  2. Match the full name with booking number, age, date, and other non-sensitive identifiers. Do not infer arrest location from the address.
  3. Record the booking number before calling detention staff or the Clerk.

The public table has no booking-photo column. The ArcGIS layer lists no attachments, so it is structured custody data rather than a mugshot gallery. The Craven County Sheriff's Office Android app promotes inmate-record search and safety notifications, but the county offers no iOS listing, photo archive, release archive, or separate daily feed. For source reliability, trust the county roster.

The app also links to inmate visitation, Crimestoppers tips, "See Something Say Something," and push alerts. Those tools do different jobs. A tip is not a records request, visitation access is not an arrest-history search, and a news alert is not proof of custody. GetApps4Less publishes the app, so confirm its county connection and return to the county-hosted roster to verify a booking. Emergencies still go to 911, never an app form. The official layer metadata documents the published fields.

Craven County booking record public fields and no attachments

The technical data confirms the no-photo picture. It also separates public fields from sensitive details that deserve no amplification here.

Where Craven Arrest Information Appears

Where information appears depends on custody and record type. An agency report, jail booking, court case, prison record, and news story can all describe one event without being interchangeable. Official sources come first. Private ones are leads at best.

eCourts and ClerkFiled case, court date, dispositionOfficial court route
New Bern Live and WITNSelected dated reportsJournalism, not a complete roster
Busted Newspaper, Mugshots.com, Arrests.orgRepublished or indexed materialUnofficial and potentially stale

New Bern Live is the strongest dated local arrest-news archive around, but coverage is selective. Its stories can involve the Sheriff, city police, NCSBI, ALE, task forces, U.S. Marshals, or agencies from nearby counties. Where the arrest happened can differ. So can who investigated, where the person is held, and which court handles it. News gives context; the government custodian gives current status.

Busted Newspaper runs a Craven section. Older 2024 material sits beneath its "most recent" label, though. Mugshots.com leans historical, mostly 2011 through 2022. Arrests.org offers a statewide interface without a stable Craven page. No live Craven RecentlyBooked section or Mugshots.zone subdomain exists. County Jail Mugshots and JailExchange are directories, not custodians. Treat any private photo or charge list as a lead only.

Recent Arrests by City

City routes follow the top three incorporated municipalities in the state OSBM July 1, 2024 estimate. That ranking builds the local map; it is not an arrest statistic. Police departments hold agency records, while current county detention shows on the county roster.

The roster does not break arrests out by city. An address listed beside a name tells you nothing about which agency made the arrest, so routing through the facility, the agency, and the court must be checked separately.

Inside a Craven County Arrest Record

A booking record is a snapshot of custody facts. It can carry the facility, the ORI, and a booking number, along with the name, age, booking date, bond, statute, charge description, and any scheduled bond court date. Think of it as a point-in-time document. It won't tell you how the court later resolved the case.

Arrest
Agency detention under legal authority, which may precede county booking.
Booking
Facility intake that creates a jail record and booking number.
Bond
A release condition that can change after review, not punishment.
Disposition
The court outcome, such as dismissal, acquittal, plea, or judgment.
Expunction
A court process affecting eligible official records.

The metadata goes deeper still. Middle names, inmate numbers, birth dates, address pieces, and coordinates often sit in the file. Just because a field exists does not mean it should be broadcast, so pull only what you need to confirm the record.

Booked versus released: “Booked” describes intake. “Released” describes custody ending or changing. Neither tells whether a charge was dismissed or resulted in conviction.

Arrest Mugshots and Booking Photos

Craven County's roster displays no booking-photo field, no URL, and no attachment. A photo can exist inside the system without ever reaching the public table. North Carolina G.S. 15A-502 allows photographs and fingerprints in defined situations. What you can actually see still depends on records law, investigation limits, sealing, identity protections, and what the custodian holds.

Want a releasable booking photo? Start with the booking number, the arresting agency, and the date. Then ask the Sheriff or police custodian for the public portions. Request any photograph that can be released. Request the legal basis for anything withheld, plus any segregable public material. No photo, no format, and no instant reply is promised.

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction sits at a later stage of the process. Its locator spans state prison, probation, parole, and historical state records, not the Craven jail. A state offender image, where one appears, is not the county booking photo. The county photo is taken at arrest.

Private sites traffic in old or mismatched images. Busted Newspaper and Mugshots.com hold no official standing. No image from them appears here. Skip paid removal vendors. Work through the court process first. Then use a publisher's free correction or opt-out channel if one exists.

Request a Craven Arrest Record

Finding the right custodian beats firing off a generic request. Craven County sends general requests to pio@cravencountync.gov. Court disputes and traffic matters belong with the Clerk or the Judicial Branch instead. A city police report stays with that municipal department.

  1. Identify the record: booking entry, intake record, arrest report, release record, photograph, court file, or date-range table.
  2. Choose the custodian. Use detention or Sheriff support for county bookings, police for its report, and the Clerk for court records.
  3. Give the full name, approximate date, booking or case number, and format. Ask for segregable public portions.
  4. For broad electronic requests, ask for a fee estimate. G.S. 132-6 calls for access as promptly as possible; G.S. 132-6.2 allows actual-cost copying and certain extensive-use charges and does not require creation of a nonexistent record.
  5. Preserve the response and follow a documented redirection.

For the jail itself, call 252-636-6619. Sheriff's records support answers at 252-636-6630. New Bern Technology and Records takes 252-672-4100 option 1 or tru@newbernnc.gov. Havelock Records can be reached at 252-463-7102 and dmartin@havelocknc.us. Trent Woods Police is 252-637-3030, and the Clerk's number is 252-639-3000. The official Craven public-records route spells out the PIO channel. It also shows where court matters get redirected.

North Carolina Records Law

G.S. 132-1 defines public records in sweeping terms. It covers photographs and electronic materials created or received in public business. Criminal-investigation and intelligence records get their own framework under G.S. 132-1.4. That statute opens up certain core arrest and incident facts. It does not convert every investigative file or database field into an open record.

G.S. 132-1.4(k) addresses returned warrants, arrest warrants, search warrants, indictments, and criminal summonses, all subject to sealing and other limits. Juvenile records and protected information answer to separate rules. North Carolina has no enacted anti-mugshot-publication law on the books for Craven or the state. Access turns on existing statutes rather than any imagined automatic mugshot rule.

Retention is not the same as web publication. The roster can drop a record once custody ends. The Sheriff's underlying series stays on a retention schedule. Municipal police records follow their own schedule. Older court and county materials may land in the State Archives' Craven guide, often with no person-name index.

Arrest → booking → current roster → first appearance → court disposition → possible expunction. Every stage can sit with a different custodian.

Older Craven County Arrest Research

Older arrests in Craven County take a different path. The live roster shows current custody only, and that is by design. Go straight to the agency that made the arrest. Give a tight date range with the request. If county detention followed, ask the Sheriff separately for the booking and release record. Any court case and its disposition sit with the Clerk and eCourts. Identifiers and retention rules differ across these offices even for one event.

The North Carolina Archives lists a separate sheriff retention schedule. Formally, it is the County Sheriff's Office Records Retention and Disposition Schedule. It covers operational series for complaints, arrests, traffic events, accidents, and related activity. Confidentiality rules in G.S. 132-1.4 apply. New Bern, Havelock, and Trent Woods police material follows the municipal and local-agency schedule, and retention by an office never means continuing publication on an open website.

For truly old research, the State Archives' Craven County records guide points to transferred county and criminal-action material. Much of it is not indexed by name. A useful inquiry names a court term, an approximate date, a record series, a case number, or the responsible office. The newspaper guide lists New Bern and Craven titles. Treat that microfilm coverage as a lead, not a substitute for the original arrest or court record.

Private search results can outlive the government roster. They often stay online after a case changes. Check the date and the stated source. Note the difference between a booking row and a court outcome. An old article, a cached roster row, or a private photo tells you nothing about where a person stands now.

Craven Arrest Warrants and Wanted Notices

Craven County publishes no searchable warrant database. There is no standing most-wanted roster either. The county GIS Atlas is a general mapping system, not a warrant search. Press releases sometimes carry wanted notices, but those are selective and time-limited. For a returned warrant or criminal summons, check eCourts or contact the Clerk. Confirm current status with the issuing agency or an attorney. A notice can be served, withdrawn, corrected, or sealed. Never approach, confront, follow, or detain someone shown in a notice. Call law enforcement. The Sheriff's Submit a Tip channel takes information, not independent warrant checks. The official Sheriff's Office page displays agency services.

The capture is an access reference, not a warrant database or wanted list.

After an Arrest in Craven County

A bond court date on the roster is only a schedule. North Carolina eCourts searches by party, case number, citation, attorney, and other fields. A new booking may not be indexed yet. Confirm the identifiers, county, case number, charge, and date. A name-only match proves nothing about identity. The Craven Judicial Branch page posts criminal calendars and contacts. The Clerk offers courthouse terminals plus certified and non-certified routes. A certified single-county search costs $25 through AOC-CR-314. That fee belongs to the clerk's record service. Charges can still be amended, combined, reduced, or dismissed before the disposition, which is the legal outcome.

Correcting or Expunging Arrest Records

North Carolina calls the court process expunction. Eligibility hinges on the charge, the result, prior record, waiting period, and statutory conditions. Some dismissed or not-guilty matters may qualify without the general fee. Courts lists a general $175 filing fee for other petitions. It also offers an indigency process. File the petition where the charge was brought. Official forms list charge, statute, docket, and signatures. The SBI processes qualifying orders but gives no legal advice. A booking error goes to the source agency first. Expunction belongs with the court, and neither process starts with a commercial payment demand. The North Carolina Courts expunction resource covers eligibility, filing, fees, and private-copy limits.

North Carolina Courts Craven arrest record expunction information

Finish the court route before asking a private publisher to remove a copied record. Expunction does not automatically erase every private copy. After an order, use each publisher's free correction or deletion policy. Provide only the documents reasonably required. Mugshots.com states it has an update or deletion policy for expunged records, but that is a private policy, not a government deadline. Skip paid-removal promises and requests for unnecessary personal data.

State and Federal Custody

A Craven County search only goes so far. Once a person leaves local custody, the trail moves to whichever system holds the record. NCDAC Offender Public Information handles state prison, probation, parole, and historical state records back to 1972, per the Department. County jail information is not part of that database, NCDAC says.

Federal cases run through the Bureau of Prisons locator. That tool publishes no inmate photographs. Immigration custody belongs to the ICE locator. Craven's roster excludes federal inmates. An empty result may just mean you are searching the wrong system. Juvenile custody never appears on a public roster and needs an appropriate protected-system route instead.

NC SAVAN sends notifications across county jails, state corrections, probation, and parole. It skips police-only holding, people who bond at a magistrate without a county booking, juveniles, mental-health facilities, and federal detention. Registrations may need renewal after a transfer.

Match each question to its keeper. Current jail custody comes from Craven County. Police reports come from the arresting agency. Courts hold the case and disposition, NCDAC covers state supervision, and the right locator answers for federal status. Private aggregators and news archives are discovery aids, nothing more.

Note: Log the date and time of every lookup, since custody, bond, court dates, and publication status can all change afterward.
